Why do I love history?

I've loved history since I was a child.  I guess I was born with a love of history -- but not just any history.  I love history that is associated with my other loves: music, family research, my church and religion in general, stuff that affects daily life in a big way.

Someone said, "Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it."  There's truth in that.

For example, we should learn our family's health history, their geographic and ethnic history and such.
  • Family Health can alert us to take precautions.
  • Teens can learn how ancestors occupations can help decide their future and purpose in life.
Religion is even more important.  We who believe in Jesus Christ know that learning of Him and of God's commandments will determine our eternity -- but this isn't about religion.

This is as much about common sense as it is about a favorite pastime.  How can we say we do or don't believe in something if we haven't learned all we can about it?  Whether it's the outcome of political choices, the U.S. Constitution, or The Holy Bible, if you ain't read it and its history, you don't know nothin'!  A good place to start learning history is your own history.  That's where I began.
